Frequently asked questions
Find answers to common questions about our services, caregivers, and how we can help your family.
Getting Started
Signs that home care might be helpful include difficulty with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, or meal preparation; increased forgetfulness; social isolation; recent hospitalization; or family caregivers feeling overwhelmed. We offer free consultations to help you assess your specific situation.
For standard placements, care typically begins within 3-5 days after our initial consultation. For urgent situations, we offer immediate placement services that can have a caregiver in your home within 24-48 hours.
During our free consultation, we'll discuss your loved one's needs, preferences, and daily routine. We'll tour the home, answer your questions, and create a personalized care plan. There's no obligation — it's simply a conversation to understand how we can help.
We begin with a personalized transition plan and introduce your care team in your home. Together we'll settle into a routine that fits your household, and our office stays in close touch — checking in regularly so you have peace of mind from day one.
We serve the Portland and Salem Metro areas, including Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, Marion, and Yamhill Counties.
Services & Care
Our caregivers provide a wide range of services including personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming), companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation, and specialized care for conditions like dementia. We tailor services to each client's specific needs.
Yes, we support families navigating memory loss. Our caregivers bring patience, communication strategies, and structured routines that help reduce anxiety and confusion and allow your loved one to feel comfortable at home.
Absolutely. We offer flexible scheduling from a few hours a week to round-the-clock care. Our 24-hour care is structured as rotating shifts, ensuring alert, active support at every hour of the day and night.
Our caregivers can provide medication reminders and assist with self-administered medications. For more complex medication management, we coordinate with nursing services or can help arrange appropriate medical support.
Caregivers
Every caregiver undergoes a comprehensive screening process including background checks, reference verification, skills assessment, and in-person interviews. We also verify certifications and conduct ongoing training to ensure quality care.
Compatibility matters. If for any reason you're not satisfied with your caregiver match, let us know and we'll work quickly to find a better fit. There's no penalty for requesting a change — your comfort is our priority.
We prioritize consistency because we know how important familiar faces are. While we can't guarantee the same caregiver for every single shift (due to time off or scheduling), we work hard to maintain a small, consistent care team for each client.
Cost & Payment
Costs vary based on the level of care needed, hours required, and specific services. We provide transparent pricing during your consultation with no hidden fees. Visit our Cost page for general pricing information, or contact us for a personalized quote.
Long-term care insurance often covers home care services. Medicare typically covers skilled nursing but not custodial care. Medicaid coverage varies by state. We can help you understand your coverage options and navigate the process.
